Peer Support

Call or text the NPWC Resource Line: 775-404-3307, Option 3 to be connected with a free and confidential Peer Supporter.

Why Peer Support?

Clinicians carry a unique kind of weight—responsibility for others’ lives, complex decisions, and high-stakes environments where there is often little space to process what they’ve experienced.

Peer support offers a different kind of care: connection with trained clinician peers who understand that reality firsthand. It creates a confidential space to talk through difficult moments, feel less alone, and make sense of what you’re carrying—without judgment, documentation, or evaluation.

This is support built for clinicians, by clinicians, grounded in shared experience and mutual understanding.

“Peer support promotes wellbeing by supporting clinicians during times of heightened stress and vulnerability. Peer support offers a safe way for clinicians impacted by events to talk about their experience and emotions with someone who has empathy from having ‘been there.’ While we are not fixing a clinician’s problems, we offer both support as well as strategies that have helped other clinicians in similar situations.” - Leading Clinician Peer Support Expert, Jo Shapiro, MD

Getting started is as simple as 1, 2, 3.
