Discover how hearing a patient's story can deepen empathy, strengthen human connection, and enrich clinical practice. Through the VA's My Life, My Story project, you'll experience the impact of narrative medicine and hear from leaders from the VA and the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV who will share practical strategies for integrating it into education and healthcare settings.

1) Define narrative medicine and explain its core principles, including empathy, reflection, and the importance of patient stories in clinical care.
2) Describe the goals and structure of the VA My Life, My Story project, including how it is implemented and its role in enhancing patient-centered care within the VA system.
3) Recognize the clinical and educational benefits of integrating patient narratives into medical practice, including improved communication, trust-building, ethics, and provider well-being.
4) Identify opportunities to participate in or support the MLMS project within their own VA facility or community clinical setting.
5) Practice a simple narrative medicine activity that can be applied in a local educational setting.
