Speaker Series: Discovering Somatic Movement: Uniting Body and Mind for Enhanced Well-Being

This presentation will begin with an introduction to Somatic Movement, where participants will learn how this practice focuses on the internal experience of movement and the interplay between body and mind. As we progress through the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of Somatic Movement, firsthand.

Nicole Lindauer, E-RYT, is a Somatic Yoga Educator certified through the Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training. She is also a Trauma-Informed Yoga & Meditation Teacher, Certified Breathwork Facilitator, and Usui Reiki Master. She supports others in moving through physical, mental, and emotional obstacles with evidence-based mind-body practices that empower self-generated healing.

  • 1) Recognize the concept of somatic movement as a holistic approach to body awareness, movement, and self-discovery.

    2) Examine how somatic movement enhances sensory awareness, enabling them to perceive subtle changes in their bodies, such as tension, relaxation, and balance.

    3) Assess how somatic movement taps into the brain's neuroplasticity, the ability to reorganize and form new neural connections.

    4) Provide safe, effective, and ethical care to patients by integrating somatic tools into daily life and prioritizing body-mind wellbeing.
