Speaker Series: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Burnout

Participants will be provided an overview of acceptance and commitment therapy and strategies that can be used in prevention and management of stress and burnout.

Dr. Whitney Owens is a licensed psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment with adults. Her areas of focus includes depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relational issues and addictions. She is also an E-RYT200 Yoga Teacher with specialized training in several styles of yoga, including vinyasa and yin yoga. She is also specially trained in teaching meditation and mindfulness skills.

  • Learning Objectives:

    1) Describe theoretical underpinnings of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

    2) Practice ACT mindfulness strategies for use with identifying fixed beliefs about self and work, and practice with defusing from these beliefs.

    3) Provide ethical care to patients and ourselves through implementing values-based strategies for reducing stress and burnout and increasing alignment with boundaries.
